This is one thing my husband has always wanted to do, so I sent my husband, son and son in-law out for the day, and was it worth it. They had the best time, could not say enough about the crew, professional, helpful, fun. All 3 caught fish and we were lucky enough to have the son in-law cook some up for us that night. Highly recommend and they cannot wait to do it again.
First and foremost, I will be going on another fishing trip with Will and Ed, these guys are not only good but they also are very professional and go the extra mile to make sure you get your money’s worth.
We planned this trip so my father in-law could go with us who is in a wheel chair with only one arm. I called and emailed before we booked, Will was not only very responsive but also very willing to help us get him on the boat and get him fishing.
We got my father in-law on the boat and headed out. It was a great trip and everyone felt very comfortable on the boat.
I called other chapters and most didn’t want to work with us to see if we could get the wheel chair on the boat, Will was very helpful and even let us come by to make sure before the charter to make sure we could get it on the boat.
If anyone in your party has different abilities then you need to do yourself a favor and call and talk to Will and get a charter with Whipsaw!!
It may have been pouring rain but that’s always when my luck is best so don’t let that hold you back. Today was no exception. I got the first Mahi 20 minutes into the day. Then a very large Blue Marlin an hour later. Then 2 more Mahi before my final catch of a short billed Spear Fish. Capt Teoni and deckhand Brenden on the Play N Hooky.

Went deep sea fishing for the first time with Whipsaw Sportfishing. Even though I got seasick once and two other family members got seasick, catching a 45 pound, 63 inch Mahi-Mahi made it all worth it.
The crew was great and very helpful throughout the 6 hour trip. I would highly recommend booking with Whipsaw for any deep sea fishing. Maybe someday in the future I can come back and try to catch a bigger Mahi.

Had a great day on the water with Captain Mike and Ed. They were very knowledgeable of the area and the types of fish. They were able to get some fish onboard for us and also caught and released a shark. Enjoyed talking with Ed, seeing dolphins and a sea turtle during the trip as well. I would definitely recommend Whipsaw if you are looking to fish while in Honolulu.
Absolutely amazing time out here with Whipsaw Sportfishing! Joe and Jeff were the best helping us every step of the way! I strongly recommend everyone to go for the full day trip to enjoy trolling and chance to catch the most fish for as long as possible. I caught an 11 ft 370 lb Blue Marlin took me 2 hours to reel in! Captain James came through! I had friends visiting from the mainland and booked the Whipsaw because they have one of the best catch rates for Honolulu charter boats. Captain James gave a safety orientation and then we were underway. 1st mate Nate gave an awesome fishing orientation that included info for the novice & experienced fisherman. The trend for the week we went was that most boats weren’t catching so I prepared my mainland friends for possibly a long boat ride. However Captain James brought us into one of the largest aku piles I had ever seen. Along with four other boats, we worked the pile but unfortunately they weren’t biting but what an amazing site to get to witness. Even if we didn’t hook up, I was already satisfied. Over the course of the day we had two knockdowns, one of which was marlin and 1st mate Nate aggressively reeled and free spooled to see if the marlin would give us a second chance to hook up but it just didn’t happen. Towards the end of the day we decided to run the 40 fathom ledge heading back to dock to see if we could catch an ono. Much to our surprise we ended up hooking up and landing a 20 pound yellowfin tuna. A very happy ending for a full day of fishing. The crew cleaned the fish so there was sashimi for everyone. I have been on many charter boats but in all my years, the Whipsaw is one of the nicest boats with a very hospitable crew. I booked their boat two other times and fished with Captain Will & 1st mate Tom and they as well are true professionals. On top of it all, the air conditioned cabin is a nice treat to beat the heat. I will definitely book the Whipsaw in the future.

We had an awesome crew Captain James and Tom provided an awesome experience. We did the 6 hour fishing tour and had a great time. They took us to their spots and we were able to catch a 35 pound tuna. They crew was knowledgeable and answered any questions you asked. I would highly recommend fishing with them. I have been on a few charters before, but this one was exceptional. Very clean cabin and very nice crew. We came back with my first marlin with my father loosing another which was roughly 120lb, despite this the rest of the boats couldn’t get a bite. One of the best days of my life.
Captain Mike and first mate Tom took good care of our party of 6. The boat was super clean and the crewed worked hard at making sure we were in the fish and having a good time! We caught two dorado and 5 tuna !! Very friendly outfit! We left happy. Thank you Whipsaw Fishing!!!

Much to our surprise we ended up hooking up and landing a 20 pound yellowfin tuna. A very happy ending for a full day of fishing. The crew cleaned the fish so there was sashimi for everyone. Had a great time fishing 8 hours on a private charter 2 different days during our vacation. Captain Will did a great job finding fish for us. Deck hands were amazing at helping us with the fish along with marking sure we were comfortable and answering any questions we had throughout our day. Would definitely book with them again.

My wife and myself are here in Hawaii for 10 days. We are celebrating my 50th Birthday, which is on September 10th!
Being a die hard Largemouth Bass Angler, I had to book a fishing trip! The lists were long and the reviews were plenty! Many of them were atrocious!! Folks not getting a trip that they paid for. No refunds. Rude crews, etc..
Whipsaw had what we were looking for! After reading through their reviews, we were pleased and booked a 4 hr shared trip! The trip was focused on going after Mahi-Mahi, Tuna, Marlin, etc!! These are fish that I only see on tv and eat in restaurants back home in Virginia! Capt Will called me, and we spoke about the older reviews which weren’t all that great. He assured me that since he has been on board, customer service has improved greatly!! We covered specifics, managed the payment, and I ended the call very pleased! He took time out to call me and take care of loose ends and answer my questions/concerns!
The day arrived and I met Capt Will and his First Mate Tom aboard, “The Whipsaw” Once all 6 of us were present, we boarded, went over some safety information, and other important things, and we took off!
I sat in awe as I watched Tom set up all the tackle, and get lines out into the water! We were, “Trolling” on this trip.
The water was, “Very Rough,” per Capt Will. We reached a marker buoy that indicated we were in 6,000ft of water. The boat was being rocked by 5 to 7 ft swells, per Capt Will!! His maneuvering skills and Tom’s attention to detail kept us safe, inspite of the conditions!
The decision was made to switch to live bait, and we stopped trolling. Tom pulled out what I thought were ballyhoo (live bait) and switched to a live rig. I’m convinced that Tom secretly is Spider-Man as he was sure footed while the boat was taking on the swells. He got the rig out, and within minutes, “Fish On!!” He called out to our numbered rod holder to get into the fighting chair!!
The fish fought just as hard as the swells, but we landed a Beautiful 30+Inch Mahi-Mahi!
There weren’t any other fish in the area, and the Capt decided that with the conditions, we should turn around, troll, and head back in. We all wanted more fishing action, but we made it back in with no more action. Tom brought in all the rigs, and secured all the tackle. Soon we were back in the slip. Capt Will and Tom did an excellent job! They were apologetic re; the fishing, but we’re more concerned about each of our experiences and what we thought about the trip/experience! Very professional! When we come back to Hawaii, I will definitely book with Whipsaw again!! As long as Capt Will and Tom are still around!!

Great time with Captain Teoni and Sam. Both gentlemen were very informative on the ins and outs of deep sea fishing, and worked diligently in helping us to catch a fish. The vessel Play N Hooky is well equipped and maintained very clean. During our 3/4 day trip, we were able to reel in a Mahi Mahi and Tuna. The captain and deckhand on the Whipsaw gave me my best deep sea fishing trip yet. the crew is highly knowledgeable and knew how to bring the fish in the boat. I have been on many game charters around the world, Cabo San Lucas, Vanuatu, Fiji, Rarotonga, Carins, NZ and I have to say Whipsaw would be the best hands down! Right from stepping on the boat, Captain Will gave the best boat safety briefing I have seen, then Brenden, the 1st mate gave a straight up session of the do’s and dont’s when hooking up in the chair. We landed a 459lb Blue, huge thanks to Capt Will, Brenden and Tom for great day on the deep blue.
Will and his crew (Thomas & Nate) did a fantastic job showing us a great time while making sure everyone stayed safe. They were very professional but just as enthusiastic as we were when we hooked into fish. It was a great day catching a bunch of fish! Couldn’t believe I got to land a spearfish!
Captain James came through! I had friends visiting from the mainland and booked the Whipsaw because they have one of the best catch rates for Honolulu charter boats. Captain James gave a safety orientation and then we were underway. 1st mate Nate gave an awesome fishing orientation that included info for the novice & experienced fisherman. The trend for the week we went was that most boats weren’t catching so I prepared my mainland friends for possibly a long boat ride. However Captain James brought us into one of the largest aku piles I had ever seen. Along with four other boats, we worked the pile but unfortunately they weren’t biting but what an amazing site to get to witness. Even if we didn’t hook up, I was already satisfied. Over the course of the day we had two knockdowns, one of which was marlin and 1st mate Nate aggressively reeled and free spooled to see if the marlin would give us a second chance to hook up but it just didn’t happen. Towards the end of the day we decided to run the 40 fathom ledge heading back to dock to see if we could catch an ono. Much to our surprise we ended up hooking up and landing a 20 pound yellowfin tuna. A very happy ending for a full day of fishing. The crew cleaned the fish so there was sashimi for everyone. I have been on many charter boats but in all my years, the Whipsaw is one of the nicest boats with a very hospitable crew. Fished with Capt Will and First Mate Tom on 04/27/22 with my wife and youngest daughter. Both know their stuff. Capt Will put us on the fish and Tom really knows how to run the deck. My daughter caught the first fish of the day and the largest, a 37 lb Ono (Wahoo). She was beyond excited. We kept 5 tuna, released a Mahi Mahi and had several more strikes. Fishing wasn’t the whole trip. We got to see Pilot Whales up close, as well as flying fish, many different bird species and a USN submarine (on the surface) escorted us along for about an hour. The boat is comfortable and easy to fish from. I would highly recommend Whipsaw Sportfishing! Thanks again Will and Tom!

Captain Will and Tom were nothing short of amazing. We booked an extremely last minute fishing charter. We met up at 0530 and left immediately. Will already had a lead on where to get to a good fishing spot, and as soon as we got there we snagged four Mahi Mahi and three tuna. The experience was a bucket list item for me and the crew didn’t fail to impress me. There’s literally nothing like catching a big fish right out of the ocean. I’m already planning my next trip here and want to do this again. I’m hooked and want to catch more!!! No he

Captain Will and Tom were absolutely amazing! Not only was the boat clean, had AC and a bathroom but the crew was so hardworking. My husband and I were down for his 30th birthday and had no luck on a previous charter so these guys saved the day and took it upon themselves to make sure he caught a fish. We caught 3 huge fish! My husband caught a 68 in 34 lb short billed spearfish. I caught a 48 in 18lb mahi mahi. The other gentleman with us caught a 62in 31lb mahi mahi. They cleaned and brine the fish for us and even gave us a recipe for poke. We also saw other sea life including humpback whales and huge sea turtle that hang out at the dock. We will definitely come back and fish with these guys again! Say hi to sushi the dog if you see him at the dock! Mahalo !

We had an awesome crew Captain James and Tom provided an awesome experience. We did the 6 hour fishing tour and had a great time. They took us to their spots and we were able to catch a 35 pound tuna. They crew was knowledgeable and answered any questions you asked. I would highly recommend fishing with them. They provide ice and clean your catch for you. Thanks again to the crew. Y’all were awesome. When we return to Hawaii, we will definitely use y’all again. And to any of my friends coming out here. Whether you are a sportfishing enthusiast or it’s your first time, Whipsaw is the best charter boat on Oahu, HANDS DOWN. We went out with Tom and Captain Will and they were fantastic. You can tell within the first few minutes of meeting the crew that they know their stuff. Will had a game plan before we even left the dock and he was spot on. We caught two BIG Marlin and got to take home as much Marlin as we could possibly eat. We ended up giving some fish friends too. The whole evolution is so much fun, even if it’s not your turn to be in the chair. You will not be disappointed.
Will and Tom, Hands down, 110% best charter I’ve ever been on. 3 for 3 on blue marlin (release the one that we could safely release). If you don’t understand what 3for3 on blue marlin means, then You need to Fish more. Can’t pay for an experience like Will and Tom produce. I run a small fishing boat out of San Diego, and been on 20+ Sportfishing charters and these dudes are by far the best out there. Only boat I’ll recommending Oahu.

Whipsaw had what we were looking for! After reading through their reviews, we were pleased and booked a 4 hr shared trip! The trip was focused on going after Mahi-Mahi, Tuna, Marlin, etc!! These are fish that I only see on tv and eat in restaurants back home in Virginia! Capt Will called me, and we spoke about the older reviews which weren’t all that great. He assured me that since he has been on board, customer service has improved greatly!! We covered specifics, managed the payment, and I ended the call very pleased! He took time out to call me and take care of loose ends and answer my questions/concerns!
The day arrived and I met Capt Will and his First Mate Tom aboard, “The Whipsaw” Once all 6 of us were present, we boarded, went over some safety information, and other important things, and we took off!
I sat in awe as I watched Tom set up all the tackle, and get lines out into the water! We were, “Trolling” on this trip.
The water was, “Very Rough,” per Capt Will. We reached a marker buoy that indicated we were in 6,000ft of water. The boat was being rocked by 5 to 7 ft swells, per Capt Will!! His maneuvering skills and Tom’s attention to detail kept us safe, inspite of the conditions!
The decision was made to switch to live bait, and we stopped trolling. Tom pulled out what I thought were ballyhoo (live bait) and switched to a live rig. I’m convinced that Tom secretly is Spider-Man as he was sure footed while the boat was taking on the swells. He got the rig out, and within minutes, “Fish On!!” He called out to our numbered rod holder to get into the fighting chair!!
The fish fought just as hard as the swells, but we landed a Beautiful 30+Inch Mahi-Mahi!
There weren’t any other fish in the area, and the Capt decided that with the conditions, we should turn around, troll, and head back in. We all wanted more fishing action, but we made it back in with no more action. Tom brought in all the rigs, and secured all the tackle. Soon we were back in the slip. Capt Will and Tom did an excellent job! They were apologetic re; the fishing, but we’re more concerned about each of our experiences and what we thought about the trip/experience! Very professional! When we come back to Hawaii, I will definitely book with Whipsaw again!! As long as Capt Will and Tom are still around!!

The captain and deckhand on the Whipsaw gave me my best deep sea fishing trip yet. the crew is highly knowledgeable and knew how to bring the fish in the boat. They also were very sociable and made me feel comfortable. A productive day catching 6 mahi mahi, and 1 small tuna. A definite 5 star rating, thanks
Will and his crew (Thomas & Nate) did a fantastic job showing us a great time while making sure everyone stayed safe. They were very professional but just as enthusiastic as we were when we hooked into fish. It was a great day catching a bunch of fish! Couldn’t believe I got to land a spearfish!
Captain James came through! I had friends visiting from the mainland and booked the Whipsaw because they have one of the best catch rates for Honolulu charter boats. Captain James gave a safety orientation and then we were underway. 1st mate Nate gave an awesome fishing orientation that included info for the novice & experienced fisherman. The trend for the week we went was that most boats weren’t catching so I prepared my mainland friends for possibly a long boat ride. However Captain James brought us into one of the largest aku piles I had ever seen. Along with four other boats, we worked the pile but unfortunately they weren’t biting but what an amazing site to get to witness. Even if we didn’t hook up, I was already satisfied. Over the course of the day we had two knockdowns, one of which was marlin and 1st mate Nate aggressively reeled and free spooled to see if the marlin would give us a second chance to hook up but it just didn’t happen. Towards the end of the day we decided to run the 40 fathom ledge heading back to dock to see if we could catch an ono. Much to our surprise we ended up hooking up and landing a 20 pound yellowfin tuna. A very happy ending for a full day of fishing. The crew cleaned the fish so there was sashimi for everyone. I have been on many charter boats but in all my years, the Whipsaw is one of the nicest boats with a very hospitable crew. I booked their boat two other times and fished with Captain Will & 1st mate Tom and they as well are true professionals. On top of it all, the air conditioned cabin is a nice treat to beat the heat. I will definitely book the Whipsaw in the future.

I would highly recommend Whipsaw sportfishing… My 14 year old son and i went out with Will and Tom and caught a couple mahi mahi and sharks… But the day was slow overall and the guys had to really work for the bites. I appreciated the professionalism and passion for their craft. It was obvious that they were doing everything they could to put us on fish. Slow days on the water are what separates good crews from the ok crews. These guys stayed upbeat and positive the entire time and made us feel very welcome, Ive done a few charters in multiple locations and these guys were the best by far.
Had a great time fishing 8 hours on a private charter 2 different days during our vacation. Captain Will did a great job finding fish for us. Deck hands were amazing at helping us with the fish along with marking sure we were comfortable and answering any questions we had throughout our day. Would definitely book with them again.
When the best times of my life, I couldn’t wait to get to Hawaii and when I had a chance to charter a boat this is the one I chose. The captain and crew were awesome. Great time with Captain Teoni and Sam. Both gentlemen were very informative on the ins and outs of deep sea fishing, and worked diligently in helping us to catch a fish. The vessel Play N Hooky is well equipped and maintained very clean. During our 3/4 day trip, we were able to reel in a Mahi Mahi and Tuna. The entire family had a wonderful and unforgettable experience. Definitely recommended.

Fished with Capt Will and First Mate Tom on 04/27/22 with my wife and youngest daughter. Both know their stuff. Capt Will put us on the fish and Tom really knows how to run the deck. My daughter caught the first fish of the day and the largest, a 37 lb Ono (Wahoo). She was beyond excited. We kept 5 tuna, released a Mahi Mahi and had several more strikes. Fishing wasn’t the whole trip. We got to see Pilot Whales up close, as well as flying fish, many different bird species and a USN submarine (on the surface) escorted us along for about an hour. The boat is comfortable and easy to fish from. I would highly recommend Whipsaw Sportfishing! Thanks again Will and Tom!

What a trip! We saw humpback whales, dolphins, sea turtles at the dock, and caught a mackerel and a 20 lb skipjack tuna.
Captain Will was in command and he had a clean 35’ Cabo flybridge. The deck hand was Thomas, and they worked well together.
You will not see western Hawai’i like you will from the sea, you’ll be amazed at its beauty. See pics.
The seas can be rough, so if you get seasick easily I wouldn’t go. It was 3-hours of rocking heading back. We loved it though — a true adventure vs laying on a beach reading damn book.
At the end Captain Will sliced up the tuna and offered us to take w us. Make sure you feed the sea turtles and dog “Sushi” hanging out waiting for scraps!
PS: bring your own drinks, including alcohol. None are supplied by the boat. We would have given anything to crack open a cold beer on the trek back!

We had an awesome crew Captain James and Tom provided an awesome experience. We did the 6 hour fishing tour and had a great time. They took us to their spots and we were able to catch a 35 pound tuna. They crew was knowledgeable and answered any questions you asked. I would highly recommend fishing with them. They provide ice and clean your catch for you. Thanks again to the crew. Y’all were awesome. When we return to Hawaii, we will definitely use y’all again. And to any of my friends coming out here. Will and his crew (Thomas & Nate) did a fantastic job showing us a great time while making sure everyone stayed safe. They were very professional but just as enthusiastic as we were when we hooked into fish. It was a great day catching a bunch of fish! Couldn’t believe I got to land a spearfish!
Captain James came through! I had friends visiting from the mainland and booked the Whipsaw because they have one of the best catch rates for Honolulu charter boats. Captain James gave a safety orientation and then we were underway. 1st mate Nate gave an awesome fishing orientation that included info for the novice & experienced fisherman. The trend for the week we went was that most boats weren’t catching so I prepared my mainland friends for possibly a long boat ride. However Captain James brought us into one of the largest aku piles I had ever seen. Along with four other boats, we worked the pile but unfortunately they weren’t biting but what an amazing site to get to witness. Even if we didn’t hook up, I was already satisfied. Over the course of the day we had two knockdowns, one of which was marlin and 1st mate Nate aggressively reeled and free spooled to see if the marlin would give us a second chance to hook up but it just didn’t happen. Towards the end of the day we decided to run the 40 fathom ledge heading back to dock to see if we could catch an ono. Much to our surprise we ended up hooking up and landing a 20 pound yellowfin tuna. A very happy ending for a full day of fishing. The crew cleaned the fish so there was sashimi for everyone. I have been on many charter boats but in all my years, the Whipsaw is one of the nicest boats with a very hospitable crew. I booked their boat two other times and fished with Captain Will & 1st mate Tom and they as well are true professionals. On top of it all, the air conditioned cabin is a nice treat to beat the heat. I will definitely book the Whipsaw in the future.

Captain Will and Tom are amazing people. They truly care about your experience on the boat. The detail in which they take care of you and the boat is second to none. They are incredibly positive the entire trip whether the reels are spooling or it’s a quiet day on the beautiful Pacific. They each will take the time to talk and chat it up. My wife and myself are here in Hawaii for 10 days. We are celebrating my 50th Birthday, which is on September 10th!
Being a die hard Largemouth Bass Angler, I had to book a fishing trip! The lists were long and the reviews were plenty! Many of them were atrocious!! Folks not getting a trip that they paid for. No refunds. Rude crews, etc..
Whipsaw had what we were looking for! After reading through their reviews, we were pleased and booked a 4 hr shared trip! The trip was focused on going after Mahi-Mahi, Tuna, Marlin, etc!! These are fish that I only see on tv and eat in restaurants back home in Virginia! Capt Will called me, and we spoke about the older reviews which weren’t all that great. He assured me that since he has been on board, customer service has improved greatly!! We covered specifics, managed the payment, and I ended the call very pleased! He took time out to call me and take care of loose ends and answer my questions/concerns!
The day arrived and I met Capt Will and his First Mate Tom aboard, “The Whipsaw” Once all 6 of us were present, we boarded, went over some safety information, and other important things, and we took off!
I sat in awe as I watched Tom set up all the tackle, and get lines out into the water! We were, “Trolling” on this trip.
The water was, “Very Rough,” per Capt Will. We reached a marker buoy that indicated we were in 6,000ft of water. The boat was being rocked by 5 to 7 ft swells, per Capt Will!! His maneuvering skills and Tom’s attention to detail kept us safe, inspite of the conditions!
The decision was made to switch to live bait, and we stopped trolling. Tom pulled out what I thought were ballyhoo (live bait) and switched to a live rig. I’m convinced that Tom secretly is Spider-Man as he was sure footed while the boat was taking on the swells. He got the rig out, and within minutes, “Fish On!!” He called out to our numbered rod holder to get into the fighting chair!!
The fish fought just as hard as the swells, but we landed a Beautiful 30+Inch Mahi-Mahi!
There weren’t any other fish in the area, and the Capt decided that with the conditions, we should turn around, troll, and head back in. We all wanted more fishing action, but we made it back in with no more action. Tom brought in all the rigs, and secured all the tackle. Soon we were back in the slip. Capt Will and Tom did an excellent job! They were apologetic re; the fishing, but we’re more concerned about each of our experiences and what we thought about the trip/experience! Very professional! When we come back to Hawaii, I will definitely book with Whipsaw again!! As long as Capt Will and Tom are still around!!

I would highly recommend Whipsaw sportfishing… My 14 year old son and i went out with Will and Tom and caught a couple mahi mahi and sharks… But the day was slow overall and the guys had to really work for the bites. I appreciated the professionalism and passion for their craft. It was obvious that they were doing everything they could to put us on fish. Slow days on the water are what separates good crews from the ok crews. These guys stayed upbeat and positive the entire time and made us feel very welcome, Ive done a few charters in multiple locations and these guys were the best by far.
Had a great time fishing 8 hours on a private charter 2 different days during our vacation. Captain Will did a great job finding fish for us. Deck hands were amazing at helping us with the fish along with marking sure we were comfortable and answering any questions we had throughout our day. Would definitely book with them again.
When the best times of my life, I couldn’t wait to get to Hawaii and when I had a chance to charter a boat this is the one I chose. The captain and crew were awesome. I just spent a week in Oahu and the highlight of my trip was most definitely on Whipsaw Sportfishing. I’ve been on many fishing trips in the past but this one is by far the best and my favorite. I reeled in a beautiful Mahi-Mahi. Captain James and Tom worked very hard to make our trip fun, exciting, and enjoyable! I would so love to do this again!!

Great time with Captain Teoni and Sam. Both gentlemen were very informative on the ins and outs of deep sea fishing, and worked diligently in helping us to catch a fish. The vessel Play N Hooky is well equipped and maintained very clean. During our 3/4 day trip, we were able to reel in a Mahi Mahi and Tuna. The entire family had a wonderful and unforgettable experience. Definitely recommended.
Captain Rush and his First Mate Tom were top notch! The boat was clean and comfortable. We started catching fish soon after taking off. Highly recommend The Whipsaw to anyone looking to get after tuna, marlin, or Mahi mahi. Worth every penny!

Will already had a lead on where to get to a good fishing spot, and as soon as we got there we snagged four Mahi Mahi and three tuna. Fished with Capt Will and First Mate Tom on 04/27/22 with my wife and youngest daughter. Both know their stuff. Capt Will put us on the fish and Tom really knows how to run the deck. My daughter caught the first fish of the day and the largest, a 37 lb Ono (Wahoo). She was beyond excited. We kept 5 tuna, released a Mahi Mahi and had several more strikes. Fishing wasn’t the whole trip. We got to see Pilot Whales up close, as well as flying fish, many different bird species and a USN submarine (on the surface) escorted us along for about an hour. The boat is comfortable and easy to fish from. I would highly recommend Whipsaw Sportfishing! Thanks again Will and Tom!

We had an awesome crew Captain James and Tom provided an awesome experience. We did the 6 hour fishing tour and had a great time. They took us to their spots and we were able to catch a 35 pound tuna. They crew was knowledgeable and answered any questions you asked. I would highly recommend fishing with them. They provide ice and clean your catch for you. Thanks again to the crew. Y’all were awesome. When we return to Hawaii, we will definitely use y’all again. And to any of my friends coming out here. Will and his crew (Thomas & Nate) did a fantastic job showing us a great time while making sure everyone stayed safe. They were very professional but just as enthusiastic as we were when we hooked into fish. It was a great day catching a bunch of fish! Couldn’t believe I got to land a spearfish!
Captain James came through! I had friends visiting from the mainland and booked the Whipsaw because they have one of the best catch rates for Honolulu charter boats. Captain James gave a safety orientation and then we were underway. 1st mate Nate gave an awesome fishing orientation that included info for the novice & experienced fisherman. The trend for the week we went was that most boats weren’t catching so I prepared my mainland friends for possibly a long boat ride. However Captain James brought us into one of the largest aku piles I had ever seen. Along with four other boats, we worked the pile but unfortunately they weren’t biting but what an amazing site to get to witness. Even if we didn’t hook up, I was already satisfied. Over the course of the day we had two knockdowns, one of which was marlin and 1st mate Nate aggressively reeled and free spooled to see if the marlin would give us a second chance to hook up but it just didn’t happen. Towards the end of the day we decided to run the 40 fathom ledge heading back to dock to see if we could catch an ono. Much to our surprise we ended up hooking up and landing a 20 pound yellowfin tuna. A very happy ending for a full day of fishing. The crew cleaned the fish so there was sashimi for everyone. I have been on many charter boats but in all my years, the Whipsaw is one of the nicest boats with a very hospitable crew. I booked their boat two other times and fished with Captain Will & 1st mate Tom and they as well are true professionals. On top of it all, the air conditioned cabin is a nice treat to beat the heat. I will definitely book the Whipsaw in the future.

I would highly recommend Whipsaw sportfishing… My 14 year old son and i went out with Will and Tom and caught a couple mahi mahi and sharks… But the day was slow overall and the guys had to really work for the bites. I appreciated the professionalism and passion for their craft. It was obvious that they were doing everything they could to put us on fish. Slow days on the water are what separates good crews from the ok crews. These guys stayed upbeat and positive the entire time and made us feel very welcome, Ive done a few charters in multiple locations and these guys were the best by far.
Had a great time fishing 8 hours on a private charter 2 different days during our vacation. Captain Will did a great job finding fish for us. Deck hands were amazing at helping us with the fish along with marking sure we were comfortable and answering any questions we had throughout our day. Would definitely book with them again.

My wife and myself are here in Hawaii for 10 days. We are celebrating my 50th Birthday, which is on September 10th!
Being a die hard Largemouth Bass Angler, I had to book a fishing trip! The lists were long and the reviews were plenty! Many of them were atrocious!! Folks not getting a trip that they paid for. No refunds. Rude crews, etc..
Whipsaw had what we were looking for! After reading through their reviews, we were pleased and booked a 4 hr shared trip! The trip was focused on going after Mahi-Mahi, Tuna, Marlin, etc!! These are fish that I only see on tv and eat in restaurants back home in Virginia! Capt Will called me, and we spoke about the older reviews which weren’t all that great. He assured me that since he has been on board, customer service has improved greatly!! We covered specifics, managed the payment, and I ended the call very pleased! He took time out to call me and take care of loose ends and answer my questions/concerns!
The day arrived and I met Capt Will and his First Mate Tom aboard, “The Whipsaw” Once all 6 of us were present, we boarded, went over some safety information, and other important things, and we took off!
I sat in awe as I watched Tom set up all the tackle, and get lines out into the water! We were, “Trolling” on this trip.
The water was, “Very Rough,” per Capt Will. We reached a marker buoy that indicated we were in 6,000ft of water. The boat was being rocked by 5 to 7 ft swells, per Capt Will!! His maneuvering skills and Tom’s attention to detail kept us safe, inspite of the conditions!
The decision was made to switch to live bait, and we stopped trolling. Tom pulled out what I thought were ballyhoo (live bait) and switched to a live rig. I’m convinced that Tom secretly is Spider-Man as he was sure footed while the boat was taking on the swells. He got the rig out, and within minutes, “Fish On!!” He called out to our numbered rod holder to get into the fighting chair!!
The fish fought just as hard as the swells, but we landed a Beautiful 30+Inch Mahi-Mahi!
There weren’t any other fish in the area, and the Capt decided that with the conditions, we should turn around, troll, and head back in. We all wanted more fishing action, but we made it back in with no more action. Tom brought in all the rigs, and secured all the tackle. Soon we were back in the slip. Capt Will and Tom did an excellent job! They were apologetic re; the fishing, but we’re more concerned about each of our experiences and what we thought about the trip/experience! Very professional! When we come back to Hawaii, I will definitely book with Whipsaw again!! As long as Capt Will and Tom are still around!!

When the best times of my life, I couldn’t wait to get to Hawaii and when I had a chance to charter a boat this is the one I chose. The captain and crew were awesome. Although we only caught a 35 pound tuna It was worth everything I always dreamed of.Please book these guys they are awesome and I would definitely book them again next time we are in Hawaii.

Fished on Whipsaw on Oct 28, 2020. Captain Will and Tom were great. I fish on a lot of charters all over the world—This boat is extremely well set up with the best tackle and safety gear available. We cruised about 15 miles offshore and found floating FAD debris (looked like a telephone pole floating vertically). Wife and I landed double Mahi Mahi on the first pass. We pulled a dozen or so small YellowFin Tuna and another Mahi. Also bridled a couple of the Tuna (love baited with them) and had huge hits—lost both of them though. We released several tuna for another day, then headed home. Very comfy cabin with cold AC, coffee, microwave, etc.

Great time with Captain Teoni and Sam. Both gentlemen were very informative on the ins and outs of deep sea fishing, and worked diligently in helping us to catch a fish. The vessel Play N Hooky is well equipped and maintained very clean. During our 3/4 day trip, we were able to reel in a Mahi Mahi and Tuna. The entire family had a wonderful and unforgettable experience. Definitely recommended.
Captain Rush and his First Mate Tom were top notch! The boat was clean and comfortable. We started catching fish soon after taking off. Highly recommend The Whipsaw to anyone looking to get after tuna, marlin, or Mahi mahi. Worth every penny!

Fished with Capt Will and First Mate Tom on 04/27/22 with my wife and youngest daughter. Both know their stuff. Capt Will put us on the fish and Tom really knows how to run the deck. My daughter caught the first fish of the day and the largest, a 37 lb Ono (Wahoo). She was beyond excited. We kept 5 tuna, released a Mahi Mahi and had several more strikes. Fishing wasn’t the whole trip. We got to see Pilot Whales up close, as well as flying fish, many different bird species and a USN submarine (on the surface) escorted us along for about an hour. The boat is comfortable and easy to fish from. I would highly recommend Whipsaw Sportfishing! Thanks again Will and Tom!
