These guys are kind of the “Seal Team 6” of Oahu sport fishing . They want the fish more than you do. They keep their gear in tip top shape and play their cards close to their chest. They’re fisherman in blood and bone.

Captain Rick and Conner were awesome. The day we went out the fish weren’t really biting so we did quite a bit of trolling before they decided to switch it up and use live bait. Really appreciated all of the effort and knowledge they brought. With the live bait we caught a couple of Mahi Mahi right away!
Didn’t catch many fish but the crew was very hospitable and nice, they kept the boat very clean, very chill. Great charter. We did better than the other boats on the water, just not a good day for fishing.
I have been on a few charters before, but this one was exceptional. Very clean cabin and very nice crew. We came back with my first marlin with my father loosing another which was roughly 120lb, despite this the rest of the boats couldn’t get a bite. One of the best days of my life.

Fished with Whipsaw Sat July 6, 2019. To Start off I want to say this was my first time deep sea fishing. And I fish a lot back home 4-5 days a week (freshwater). I also want to say that the people below me who gave bad reviews for not catching anything are ridiculous. It’s fishing folks not catching!!!! the captains and deck hands live off tips and fish. So trust me when I say they will do everything in their power to get you a fish. Unfortunately some days the fish don’t bite for some reason unknown to man. Now with that being said today was amazing. Started off with a 500+ Marlin on the line 30 min into the trip. He shook the hook. Little while longer we had 2 more on but they just hit the bait and didn’t allow us to set the hook. Finally a few hours later a marlin bit and allowed me to get the fish of a lifetime in the boat. Now to thank everyone. Denise is who answered the phone when I called to book the trip. Very nice and was accommodating and understanding that I only had one day to fish and she got me in. Next I want to thank James and Brenden. These guys are top notch and are by far the best guides I’ve ever had on any trip I’ve ever been on. And now to thank Don. He is the owner. When we got back to the dock he was just as excited as me and his hands about my fish. and He also was very helpful on places to have a replica made. This place is the best… I already asked what days they had available in the next few weeks because I’m coming back.
They Captain and Deck hands are absolutely great! If we get back to Oahu definitely looking to go fishing with them again.
I have been on many game charters around the world, Cabo San Lucas, Vanuatu, Fiji, Rarotonga, Carins, NZ and I have to say Whipsaw would be the best hands down! Right from stepping on the boat, Captain Will gave the best boat safety briefing I have seen, then Brenden, the 1st mate gave a straight up session of the do’s and dont’s when hooking up in the chair. We landed a 459lb Blue, huge thanks to Capt Will, Brenden and Tom for great day on the deep blue.
Booked a full day shared trip for my 15yo son’s birthday. The captain and mate were very kind and knowledgeable. Everyone had a good time and we caught several fish. It was definitely a memory of a lifetime for my son! Thank you!

Captain Will and Tom were nothing short of amazing. We booked an extremely last minute fishing charter. We met up at 0530 and left immediately. Will already had a lead on where to get to a good fishing spot, and as soon as we got there we snagged four Mahi Mahi and three tuna. The experience was a bucket list item for me and the crew didn’t fail to impress me. There’s literally nothing like catching a big fish right out of the ocean. Fished on Whipsaw on Oct 28, 2020. Captain Will and Tom were great. I fish on a lot of charters all over the world—This boat is extremely well set up with the best tackle and safety gear available. We cruised about 15 miles offshore and found floating FAD debris (looked like a telephone pole floating vertically). Wife and I landed double Mahi Mahi on the first pass. We pulled a dozen or so small YellowFin Tuna and another Mahi. Also bridled a couple of the Tuna (love baited with them) and had huge hits—lost both of them though. We released several tuna for another day, then headed home. Very comfy cabin with cold AC, coffee, microwave, etc.
I just spent a week in Oahu and the highlight of my trip was most definitely on Whipsaw Sportfishing. I’ve been on many fishing trips in the past but this one is by far the best and my favorite. I reeled in a beautiful Mahi-Mahi. Captain James and Tom worked very hard to make our trip fun, exciting, and enjoyable! I would so love to do this again!!

For my first time had a blast didn’t catch tuna but it was worth it crew was awesome, helpful, respectful and super nicer definitely recommend!
What a trip! We saw humpback whales, dolphins, sea turtles at the dock, and caught a mackerel and a 20 lb skipjack tuna.
Captain Will was in command and he had a clean 35’ Cabo flybridge. The deck hand was Thomas, and they worked well together.
You will not see western Hawai’i like you will from the sea, you’ll be amazed at its beauty. See pics.
The seas can be rough, so if you get seasick easily I wouldn’t go. It was 3-hours of rocking heading back. We loved it though — a true adventure vs laying on a beach reading damn book.
At the end Captain Will sliced up the tuna and offered us to take w us. Make sure you feed the sea turtles and dog “Sushi” hanging out waiting for scraps!
PS: bring your own drinks, including alcohol. None are supplied by the boat. We would have given anything to crack open a cold beer on the trek back!

Whether you are a sportfishing enthusiast or it’s your first time, Whipsaw is the best charter boat on Oahu, HANDS DOWN. We went out with Tom and Captain Will and they were fantastic. You can tell within the first few minutes of meeting the crew that they know their stuff. Will had a game plan before we even left the dock and he was spot on. We caught two BIG Marlin and got to take home as much Marlin as we could possibly eat. We ended up giving some fish friends too. The whole evolution is so much fun, even if it’s not your turn to be in the chair. You will not be disappointed.
Will and Tom, Hands down, 110% best charter I’ve ever been on. 3 for 3 on blue marlin (release the one that we could safely release). If you don’t understand what 3for3 on blue marlin means, then You need to Fish more. Can’t pay for an experience like Will and Tom produce. I run a small fishing boat out of San Diego, and been on 20+ Sportfishing charters and these dudes are by far the best out there. Only boat I’ll recommending Oahu.

Captain Will and Tom were absolutely amazing! Not only was the boat clean, had AC and a bathroom but the crew was so hardworking. My husband and I were down for his 30th birthday and had no luck on a previous charter so these guys saved the day and took it upon themselves to make sure he caught a fish. We caught 3 huge fish! My husband caught a 68 in 34 lb short billed spearfish. I caught a 48 in 18lb mahi mahi. The other gentleman with us caught a 62in 31lb mahi mahi. They cleaned and brine the fish for us and even gave us a recipe for poke. We also saw other sea life including humpback whales and huge sea turtle that hang out at the dock. We will definitely come back and fish with these guys again! Say hi to sushi the dog if you see him at the dock! Mahalo !

Didn’t know what to expect since it was my first time on a fishing charter. Captain James was amazing and helped to explain everything before we got under way. The crew were so helpful and explained how everything would work once we hooked up to a fish. Shortly after the tutorial we hooked up to a striped marlin on the way out. After a good battle, we already had one fish on board and it was even 7:30am!! Pretty great start to the day. Captain James also did a great job of pointing out dolphins, pilot whales and other animals during the charter for phot opportunities. He also frequently found huge “piles” of birds which apparently are the tell-tale signs of fish at the surface.
During the charter, we caught a striped marlin and a skipjack tuna. Totally fun times and I’ll definitely be booking with Captain James again. What a great time for my first experience!

Went out on a 4 hour afternoon private charter with Whipsaw Sportfishing and was very happy with the crew and the accomodations. Captain Will and Tom were very well prepared for our journey. Within the first hour we had a Yellow Fin Tuna in the boat. By the second hour we landed a Mahi Mahi. Captain Will and Tom were very accomodating to all our needs and put us on some fish. He even cleaned our catch for us. We didnt know this wasnt the norm since everywhere we have fished in the past, this was a given. We found out later that most Captains in Hawaii keep the catch for themselves. We did have a bit of a challenge finding a restuarant to cook them for us, so be sure to plan for a cookout on the beach if you do keep your catch. These guys were awesome. Definitely recommend and will use again next time in Oahu. Thank you Captain Will and Tom for a fun afternoon on the water. It was the highlight of our trip.
Captain James came through! I had friends visiting from the mainland and booked the Whipsaw because they have one of the best catch rates for Honolulu charter boats. Captain James gave a safety orientation and then we were underway. 1st mate Nate gave an awesome fishing orientation that included info for the novice & experienced fisherman. The trend for the week we went was that most boats weren’t catching so I prepared my mainland friends for possibly a long boat ride. However Captain James brought us into one of the largest aku piles I had ever seen. Along with four other boats, we worked the pile but unfortunately they weren’t biting but what an amazing site to get to witness. Even if we didn’t hook up, I was already satisfied. Over the course of the day we had two knockdowns, one of which was marlin and 1st mate Nate aggressively reeled and free spooled to see if the marlin would give us a second chance to hook up but it just didn’t happen. Towards the end of the day we decided to run the 40 fathom ledge heading back to dock to see if we could catch an ono. Much to our surprise we ended up hooking up and landing a 20 pound yellowfin tuna. A very happy ending for a full day of fishing. The crew cleaned the fish so there was sashimi for everyone. I have been on many charter boats but in all my years, the Whipsaw is one of the nicest boats with a very hospitable crew. I booked their boat two other times and fished with Captain Will & 1st mate Tom and they as well are true professionals. On top of it all, the air conditioned cabin is a nice treat to beat the heat. I will definitely book the Whipsaw in the future.

I would highly recommend Whipsaw sportfishing… My 14 year old son and i went out with Will and Tom and caught a couple mahi mahi and sharks… But the day was slow overall and the guys had to really work for the bites. I appreciated the professionalism and passion for their craft. It was obvious that they were doing everything they could to put us on fish. Slow days on the water are what separates good crews from the ok crews. These guys stayed upbeat and positive the entire time and made us feel very welcome, Ive done a few charters in multiple locations and these guys were the best by far.

Fished with Capt Will and First Mate Tom on 04/27/22 with my wife and youngest daughter. Both know their stuff. Capt Will put us on the fish and Tom really knows how to run the deck. My daughter caught the first fish of the day and the largest, a 37 lb Ono (Wahoo). She was beyond excited. We kept 5 tuna, released a Mahi Mahi and had several more strikes. Fishing wasn’t the whole trip. We got to see Pilot Whales up close, as well as flying fish, many different bird species and a USN submarine (on the surface) escorted us along for about an hour. The boat is comfortable and easy to fish from. I would highly recommend Whipsaw Sportfishing! Thanks again Will and Tom!

We had my son’s Make-A-Wish trip in Hawaii and he is obsessed with fishing! He uses a wheelchair, so we were a bit nervous about being on the boat etc… Whipsaw was the ABSOLUTE BEST! Will and Tom were so friendly and knowledgeable and bent over backward to make it a great experience for Gus. Tom picked him up and walked on to the boat with him – no problem! 🙂 They patiently answered every question and seemed genuinely interested in our son. The boat was clean and easy to move around in – they made sure Gus could take his chair wherever he wanted on deck.
We didn’t get a big fish that day, but when Gus showed Will his book of Hawaii reef fish – he took off to find a reef and he caught the exact fish in the book! Gus was so excited and Tom’s enthusiasm was contagious – you can tell these guys love what they do.
They filleted the fish right on the dock and Gus even got to eat a small tuna he caught right there – sashimi!!!

My wife and I went on a full day private charter with Jerry and Captain Duffey yesterday. WOW! Where to begin, it was the best fishing experience of my life! Right off the bat my wife caught a gorgeous Mahi Mahi, then about 45 minutes later I brought in a Sailfish!!! Then out of nowhere we hook a blue marlin, got him in the boat, and caught a couple more mahi mahi. We had a phenomenal fishing trip and it was one for the books. Don’t hesitate to book with these guys! Just do it!

Captain James gave a safety orientation and then we were underway. 1st mate Nate gave an awesome fishing orientation that included info for the novice & experienced fisherman. The trend for the week we went was that most boats weren’t catching so I prepared my mainland friends for possibly a long boat ride. However Captain James brought us into one of the largest aku piles I had ever seen. Along with four other boats, we worked the pile but unfortunately they weren’t biting but what an amazing site to get to witness. Even if we didn’t hook up, I was already satisfied. Over the course of the day we had two knockdowns, one of which was marlin and 1st mate Nate aggressively reeled and free spooled to see if the marlin would give us a second chance to hook up but it just didn’t happen. Towards the end of the day we decided to run the 40 fathom ledge heading back to dock to see if we could catch an ono. Much to our surprise we ended up hooking up and landing a 20 pound yellowfin tuna. A very happy ending for a full day of fishing. The crew cleaned the fish so there was sashimi for everyone. I have been on many charter boats but in all my years, the Whipsaw is one of the nicest boats with a very hospitable crew. I booked their boat two other times and fished with Captain Will & 1st mate Tom and they as well are true professionals. On top of it all, the air conditioned cabin is a nice treat to beat the heat. I will definitely book the Whipsaw in the future.

I believe they went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our charter experience as well as leaving with a fond, memorable experience.
10/10 would recommend to friends/family/ strangers they were just that great.

We had an awesome crew Captain James and Tom provided an awesome experience. We did the 6 hour fishing tour and had a great time. They took us to their spots and we were able to catch a 35 pound tuna. They crew was knowledgeable and answered any questions you asked. I would highly recommend fishing with them. They provide ice and clean your catch for you. Thanks again to the crew. Y’all were awesome. When we return to Hawaii, we will definitely use y’all again. And to any of my friends coming out here.
